Its active ingredient, chlorhexidine digluconate, is not absorbed into the skin but binds to the surface, forming a protective layer that efficiently kills bacteria hours after application  , and even remains active in the presence of organic matter such as blood . It also contains Cetrimide – a disinfectant with bactericidal properties that helps to cleanse the skin and wound.

Hacdil-S has also shown effect against a Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm formed in a collagen matrix – both with single application and re-application compared to 0.05% PHMB solution . This makes Hacdil-S a suitable alternative for contaminated wound cleaning.

Hacdil-S solution is also suitable for disinfecting medical equipment after use.
